Welcome Bastian!

Thrilled to welcome Bastian Duquesne to the Simoes Lab as a new PhD student. His research will investigate whether the changes AML induces in mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) persist once the leukaemia is gone, and how quickly they fade.

Bastian will study how these altered MSCs continue to shape immune cells in the bone marrow, particularly macrophages, with the goal of identifying key mediators of MSC-AML crosstalk that could be targeted to prevent relapse.

Bastian completed his BSc in Biochemistry (with Biobusiness) at the University of Aberdeen and his MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Strathclyde, and we are excited to support him as he takes on this important work. He is co-supervised by Dr Lisa Mullen and Dr Eleni Ladikou.
